A Reputation Built on a Name
In the early 1900s, Clyde Hendrick was a young man earning his living hauling sand from the Mona Lake pits near his family farm to local foundries. Well-liked and adept at relationships, Clyde began helping area farmers in buying and selling properties. Before long, he obtained a state license and became successful at brokering farms, listing land from Benton Harbor all the way to Manistee.
Clyde Hendrick opened his first real estate office in 1920. Business boomed as he undertook projects that included the Muskegon International Airport, Norton Township Park (now P.J. Hoffmaster State Park), and the Pontaluna Golf Course (now Oakridge Golf Course). Under Clyde’s direction, Clyde Hendrick Inc., REALTORS became the number one real estate broker in the West Michigan lakeshore region.
